Childcare Assistant Director

Do you have a passion for working at an organization that serves youth in our community? The mission of the YWCA Black Hawk County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. The YWCA is seeking a creative, energetic person to assist in the development, provision, and supervision of childcare programming at multiple before-and-after school sites and full-day summer childcare programs.

  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Work Location: Multiple locations

Qualifications:

  • BA degree in early childhood education, child development or a related field is preferred;
  • and/or 3-5 years relevant experience including supervision, scheduling, program evaluation, and licensing or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Requires excellent communication and management skills with DEI experience a must.
  • Must pass criminal and child abuse background checks.

Family Center Childcare Provider

YWCA seeks individuals for part-time positions providing childcare for children aged infant through 11 years while their parents participate in YWCA English classes or parenting programs. 

  • Flexible work schedule with afternoon and early evening hours available
  • Current hours needed are Monday and Wednesday late afternoon and evening hours
  • Approximately 4.5-10 hours a week
  • $15.00/hour

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Ability to relate effectively and positively with children, parents and YWCA staff
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, pick up and lift babies and toddlers

Youth Dance Instructor

YWCA seeks energetic individuals for part-time positions providing instruction to youth ages 4-12 in beginner through intermediate ballet, jazz, hip hop and/or modern dance classes. The class focuses on familiarizing students with the fundamentals and encouraging motor skill development while having fun.

  • $15.00/hour

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in dance and/or gymnastics
  • Ability to teach and motivate youth

Youth Gymnastics Instructor

Aquatics Instructor – Adult and Senior Aquatic Fitness Class Instructors

YWCA seeks energetic individuals for part-time positions providing instruction to adults and seniors in water aerobics and/or aquatic fitness classes.

  • Flexible schedules
  • A variety of shifts are available including Saturdays
  • $15.00/hour

YWCA Y’s Kids Before and After School Childcare Program

YWCA is accepting applications from qualified and safety-oriented individuals to staff before and after school childcare programs serving school-aged children.

  • Positions are part-time during the elementary school academic year
  • Available positions are On-Site Supervisor ($15.50/hour) and Program Assistants ($15/hour)
  • 6-30 hours per week are available, to fit your schedule
  • Childcare program hours are: 6:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 3:25 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday; 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays; and 6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Fridays. Hours depend on the specific program site you are assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience required for On-Site Supervisor positions
  • Must be able to pass criminal and child abuse background checks

SummerDaze Program Assistant

The YWCA is accepting applications from qualified and safety-oriented individuals to staff our full-say child care program, SummerDaze, serving children ages 4-12. Program Assistants are responsible for providing a quality, safe, and caring environment. 

  • Job Type: Part-Time
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Work Location: Multiple locations
  • Pay: $15/hour

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or experience in a field related to children and youth. 
  • Must be currently certified (or become certified within 30 days of employment) In First Aid, AED, CPR, Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse, Universal Precautions, and Hazardous Materials.
  • Must pass State of Iowa criminal and child abuse records background checks.

  • Job Type: Part Time 
  • Pay: $15.50/hr
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Work Location: Multiple locations
