Wize Girlz
Wize Girlz is a program for 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls which provides positive activities designed to support and educate. Through year-round programming, staff provide varied group activities which engage young women in learning, recreational and skill building experiences. Examples of activities include service learning projects in the community, STEM activities, fun with fitness, visits to college campuses for tours and information to encourage goal setting, and field trips to local businesses and agencies to increase awareness on careers and higher education. Girls can join Wize Girlz at any time during the school year for only $10. Transportation, snacks and activities are offered at no additional cost. Call Taylor Beers or Cyndi Ritter at 319-234- 7589. PASS
An education and support group for parents ages 20 to 30. Parents will meet others in similar parenting situations, learn more about educational and employment opportunities, develop strategies for self-sufficiency and positive parenting, and learn about child development and how to prepare their children to be ready for school. New opportunities include a monthly support circle to discuss needs and concerns in a confidential setting and a wellness component. Participants will be able to try a variety of fitness classes to see which might benefit them the most on a regular basis and they will receive information on nutrition, health and wellness. Participants earn attendance points to purchase family need items. Regular information groups meet second and fourth Wednesday each month from 4:30-5:45 p.m. For information on upcoming women’s support circles and wellness activities offered in the fall, please contact us. English Class FREE! Language, Advocacy, Resources and Support For all individuals who are not proficient in English. Come and learn English together with others from the community. This group also provides community resource information, community activities, wellness information and group support. We provide free transportation, child care, and a convenient schedule. Mondays 5:00-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays 6:15-7:30 p.m. Classes are ongoing. You can begin at any time. For more information, please call 319-234-7589. (Spanish spoken.) In collaboration with the UNI Department of Languages and Literatures, providing UNI students to assist with lesson planning and as conversation partners during our English classes.

Young Women on the Move This annual interactive conference is held each spring and provides a day of fun and information for middle-school aged girls. Breakout sessions are designed to explore areas such as self-image, career, decision making and fitness. Watch for announcements at your school or check with your school counselor. Young Women on the Move is free for participants but preregistration is required.
